Sick Parade We don’t have any names for sick parade as we’re a bit late putting this edition on the streets.
BUT!!, if you know of anyone who is crook, let us know so we can include them in our next edition. |
Telstra.
Anyone contemplating using the telephone directory service number, 1234, would be well advised to not do so. The costs are outrageous: It will cost you 40c to call the number, then 4c A SECOND! By law, Telstra has to provide a FREE directory assistance number. The FREE assistance number is 1223. We suggest you lock it into your phone’s memory and ditch the 1234 number…... |
We had the photo (above) in Vol 17 back in June of 04. At the time we didn’t know anything about the photo, which course? when was it taken?, where was it taken? etc, so we asked you blokes. Bob Mathers, who now lives in Melbourne, saw the photo and he writes:-
The photo at the bottom of page 13 of Vol 17 was taken at Laverton in late 1964. It was taken in front of Block 100 and is a photo of No 50 Radio Mechanic Course (RMC). As near as I can remember the names in the pic are as follows:-.
Back Row - Ian Lavender, Jim Mcleary, Mark Fielding, ? Reynolds, ? Dunstan, Bob Mathers. Centre Row - Hoot Gibson, Keith Kinch, Hardie Dey, Rick Govan, Phil Bentley, Bob Clark, Bob Yates, Ian Mckellar, John Venn. Front Row - Pete (Storky) Donaldson, Barry Mitchell, Doug Meyer, George Cook, Col Bolin, Terry (Tubs) Pola.
We were a mixed bunch with some groundies, some airies and others who did not complete the course. eg George Cook who became an SP and was a Sergeant last time I ran into him. (many moons ago). Interesting to see Brian Keast smiling away in the other photo on the same page (right). I was at Radschool as an instructor when that photo was taken and remember him well as we were both involved in the Laverton Little Athletics Club at the time.
Spent a few weeks in QLD in August (2005) and noticed a few old workmates in the issue in Keith Fletcher, Brian Carney, Mike Sheperd and Gill Lunn and intend to look them up. Please note that I have finally retired and have a new e-mail address. |
