Steve Hartigan advises that Arthur Lowe is not too well. He says that recently Mick Haxell visited Arthur Lowe and his wife Valerie at their Canberra home on 1 July and unfortunately Arthur is declining rapidly and is suffering some discomfort and pain. Valerie continues to provide most of the home care, although this is becoming increasingly difficult as Arthur is now unable to do much for himself, is on increasing levels of medication and sleeps much of the time. BankWhile Arthur has difficulty speaking, he recognised Mick Haxell and managed a brief conversation in which he expressed his appreciation for the recent visits and messages from other friends and colleagues.
John Broughton is in the wars again, this time with his eyes. Those that know John are aware that he has suffered diabetes for some time, and those that know diabetes know the terrible problems associated with it. John had just traded in the old Path Finder on a new Land Cruiser and kitted out his new caravan all ready for his time as an Australian Nomad. He left Newcastle with his faithful old dog and headed north early in July and when he got to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast about 3 weeks later, he started to notice his sight was diminishing. A trip to the eye doc resulted in some bad news, the blood vessels in the back of his good eye (one was already bung) were starting to haemorrhage and required immediate attention. Early in August he received an injection into his eye (makes you squirm just thinking about it - tb) which is supposed to clear up some of the ‘muck’ that is floating around inside his eye. This is to be followed up with some thousand or so laser zaps. He’s currently waiting to see how the laser treatment will go, and if it doesn’t do the trick, it looks like it’s back to Brisbane for a major eye operation.
John’s mobile number is 0418 498 723 – and we’re sure he’d love a bit of a “gee-up” at the moment.
Frank Alley tells us that Stan Buswell, who many of us will remember as a corporal in tech flight at Radschool, is not well and is currently suffering from a terminal heart condition. Frank says that Stan, after a lot of pressure from other EdO’s applied for and was awarded a commission. He left the RAAF many years later as a Squadron Leader. Frank says it was Stan who taught him the APG30 gunsight – so he could teach it to us….Stan now lives in a suburb of Perth WA. We wish him well!!!

Aaron climbs to the top of Mt. Sinai to get close to talk to God. Looking up, he asks the Lord... 'God, what does a million years mean to you?' The Lord replies, 'A minute.' ..Aaron asks, 'And what does a million dollars mean to you?' The Lord replies, 'A penny.' 'Aaron asks, 'Can I have a penny?' 'The Lord replies, 'Sure, In a minute.' |
